[Open Call] German-speaking Workshop Facilitators in Berlin

The What the Future Wants project is looking for facilitators of a training-of-trainers (ToT) for youth workers and educators which will be delivered in-person in Berlin, in the German language.
The ToT will be for Berlin-based partners who are affiliated with youth-focused organizations, especially those working with young people from traditionally marginalized identities or backgrounds. The objective of the ToT will be to prepare the partners to host an intervention in their community on the topic of digital literacy. This project is funded by the Deutsche Postcode Lotterie.
The facilitators will work closely together with our What the Future Wants project team from October to December 2024. The position is limited in duration, and depending on the budget it is estimated that there will be no more than 50 total hours of work per facilitator. The common working language of the What the Future Wants team is English.
Content and planning / organising support for the ToT workshops will be provided by Tactical Tech. The educational curricula and workshops we will use in the ToTs are developed by the What the Future Wants team.
Tactical Tech is an international NGO that engages with citizens and civil-society organisations to explore and mitigate the impacts of technology on society. What the Future Wants, our initiative for youth, aims to put young people in the driving seat of their digital futures through education, co-creation and capacity building.
Role and Responsibilities
- Onboarding and training into the What the Future Wants project and methodology.
- Communicate with our team members about reviewing, feedbacking, and implementing ToT workshop materials addressing participants' needs. It is possible to adapt and adjust the ToT materials if that is discussed and agreed upon together in advance.
- Localize English ToT materials into German: this may include outlines, slides, guidebook, surveys, and handouts, etc.
- Co-lead and co-facilitate hands-on ToT with a number of approximately 15-25 participants. (approximately 8-16 facilitation hours)
- Apply best practices in facilitation and safeguarding.
- Debrief after the ToT to reflect upon the experience.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- At least 5 years of working experience, including roles as a facilitator and/or trainer.
- Demonstrated experience working with diverse audiences both in terms of profession, gender, ethnicity, geography, etc. and in terms of levels of training experience.
- Experience with adult education and adult learning practices.
- Excellent active listening skills.
- Excellent written and spoken communication skills, including patience and the ability to effectively convey technical information to non-technical audiences.
- Very good speaking / listening / writing skills in English.
- Excellent fluency speaking / listening / writing skills in German.
- Adaptability and flexibility when working as part of a team and as a training facilitator, ability to swiftly adjust to participants’ needs.
- Experience conducting ToT with civil society actors is a plus but not a must.
- Reliability is a must.

Consultancy Details
- The work will take place October-December 2024.

- Fees vary with experience, but are highly competitive within the non-governmental sector.
- We will offer a consultancy contract for a limited term position.
- Tactical Tech is a non-profit organisation based in Berlin. The working language of the organisation is English.
