Tactical Tech is an international NGO that engages with citizens and civil-society organisations to explore and mitigate the impacts of technology on society. What the Future Wants, our initiative for youth, aims to put young people in the driving seat of their digital futures through education, co-creation and capacity building.
What the Future Wants (WTFW) - Comes to Berlin is a one year project that aims to bring Tactical Tech’s digital literacy resources for teens to Berlin-based organisations (schools, libraries, cultural centres, youth-led organisations or organisations working with youth).
We are looking to partner with formal or non-formal youth-focused organisations and institutions based in Berlin, especially those working with young people (ages 13-18 years old) from traditionally marginalized identities or backgrounds, on this new digital literacy project. What the Future Wants (WTFW) - Comes to Berlin, co-funded by Deutsche Postcode Lotterie.

The projects aims to:

  • Equip youth-led organisations, schools, libraries, youth and cultural centres or civil society organisations with "What the Future Wants" resources (exhibitions, workshop curricula, toolkits etc.) to enable young people to think critically about the technologies they use.
  • Train young people and youth workers to run critical digital literacy interventions with youth on topics including AI, misinformation, digital privacy, security and well-being;
  • Create a network of individuals and organisations in Berlin to lead creative, playful and innovative digital literacy interventions that can build the skills of teens to navigate the digital landscape and make more informed choices.

What does partnership look like?

We would like to partner with organisations or institutions in Berlin who:
  • Are interested in working with teens on the topics of: misinformation, AI, digital privacy, security and well-being;
  • Take part in the info-session led by Tactical Tech introducing organisations to What the Future Wants resources;
  • Are able to nominate 1 to 2 participants (e.g.: teacher, librarian, youth representative, youth worker, etc.) for the training-of-trainers taking place in person in Berlin in October 2024.
  • Have the capacity to host at least one digital literacy intervention (exhibition, workshop, etc.) for teens in their community between November 2024 - March 2025. These interventions are expected to be based on “What the Future Wants” resources and  are expected to take place after a train-the-trainer session hosted by Tactical Tech.
  • Take part in the closing ceremony co-hosted by Tactical Tech, featuring photos, presentations and sharing of experiences from conducted interventions.
