[Open Call] Get Free Training on Critical Digital Literacy for Youth

Tactical Tech is an international NGO that engages with citizens and civil-society organisations to explore and mitigate the impacts of technology on society. What the Future Wants, our initiative for youth, aims to put young people in the driving seat of their digital futures through education, co-creation and capacity building.*
What the Future Wants (WTFW) – Comes to Berlin is a year-long project aimed at training Berlin-based organizations—such as schools, libraries, cultural centers, and youth-led or youth-focused organizations—and individuals working with teens aged 13-18, particularly those from marginalized backgrounds, using Tactical Tech's digital literacy resources. The project is co-funded by Deutsche Postcode Lotterie.

What we can offer you:

  • Gain new skills: Take part in training-of-trainers sessions (in German or English) on how to run critical digital literacy workshops with youth on topics like AI, misinformation, digital privacy, security, and well-being.
  • Access resources: Use our educational materials and creative exhibitions covering various tech-related topics.
  • Financial support: Receive funding to host a digital literacy intervention (exhibition, workshop, etc.) with your community.

What does partnership look like?

We would like to partner with organisations or individuals in Berlin who:
  • Are interested in working with teens on the topics of: misinformation, AI, digital privacy, security and well-being;
  • Take part in the info-session led by Tactical Tech;
  • Participate in the training-of-trainers taking place in person in Publix Berlin in November 2024.
  • Have the capacity to host at least one digital literacy intervention (exhibition, workshop, etc.) for teens in their community between November 2024 - April 2025.

Who can apply?

Applicants should meet all of the following criteria:
  • Be based in Berlin.
  • Be an organisation or an individual who works with youth or with access to a target audience of youth ages 13 to 18, particularly those from traditionally marginalized identities or backgrounds.
  • Participants must adhere to the project's ethical guidelines, report activities as instructed, and engage with communication channels to help promote the project's initiatives.
  • Have the capacity to carry out the activities as noted in this call.
