On important anniversaries, people often take pictures to celebrate a new milestone. This is a snapshot of who we are, what is at the heart of our work, why we do what we do and how, and with whom. Summarizing 20 years seems to be an impossible task. However, we hope you enjoy this humble attempt.

Our mission. We are a forward-thinking non-profit with two decades of experience exploring the profound impact of technology on people’s lives, societies and democracies while envisioning alternative digital futures.
Promoting critical thinking via digital literacy interventions. We work to strengthen critical thinking by promoting media and digital literacy, leading to a more informed and active society that is better equipped to participate in the public sphere, make informed decisions, and contribute to societal changes and democracies.
Co-creating cutting-edge interventions and resources. We combine design thinking and pedagogical methodologies into diverse and interactive formats such as exhibitions, tool-kits, guides, workshop curricula, and exhibition objects.
Sharing is caring. Our award-wining interventions and resources are open-source, adaptable, scalable, localisable, Creative Commons and multi-format. Everyone, from individuals to organisations, can use them according to their needs and goals.
We never work alone. We foster collaboration, co-creation and co-development by actively engaging with hundreds of partners worldwide. By joining forces we bring forth innovative solutions and leverage diverse expertise.

We learn from our partners and their unique insights, ideas, and expertise, enabling us to constantly improve our interventions and resources.
Bottom-up approach. Our partners, who understand the local realities and challenges, localise and adapt our interventions and resources to the particularities and needs of their communities. This supports long-term and sustainable impact and allows us to scale globally while responding effectively to local cultural and social dynamics.
The multiplier effect. Our partners build the capacity of other organisations and individuals locally, creating a multiplier effect which allows our educational initiatives to grow exponentially.

The power of knowledge sharing. By creating collaborative spaces for sharing ideas, insights, and best practices, we build the capacity of different audiences and enable them to learn from one another and grow their expertise.
Advancing knowledge on the different ways that digital technologies impact society and democracies. We actively seek opportunities to push the boundaries of innovation, research, and learning.
